The Countdown Begins! (or in this case, continues . . .)

I’ve never really considered myself a “patient” person, however, I have a feeling this is all about to change. Recently, I officially found out that notification of admission decisions for the schools I’ve applied to will not start until early/mid-May. Now, I am an avid believer of how quickly ‘time flies’, yet this tidbit of info does not do anything to contribute to this phrase. It’s only April 7th and at best, I still have at least 23 more days of waiting (probably a bit more). How will I pass the next month or so, without checking my application status’ online? How will I be able to go to the mailbox everyday looking for that package bearing the letterhead from one of those schools in DC. What, oh, WHAT do I do? I know that I’m not alone and that virtually every student at some point has had this incredible feeling of anxiety and anticipation. Perhaps I should take comfort that I am not alone, focus on my current studies at hand, and breathe.

. . . and they're off!

Quite some time has passed since my last entry. School has been in session for over two months now. Spring Break '11 has come and gone and there is roughly one true month of school left. However, the most important event now in the past was the submission of my college applications. It's hard for me to believe that the single-most significant time that I've been waiting for has not only come, but has also passed. I am now anxiously awaiting the decisions, although one school has garnered my attention the most. Time will only tell.

Spring Semester 2O11

In just nine days, the Spring Semester '11 kicks off on Tuesday, January 18th. During the past few weeks of winter break, I've been able to take full advantage of staying up until the wee hours of the morning and sleeping in until the late afternoon. Luckily, I have a part-time job to help with the occasional boredom and restlessness, however, I am ready to get the academic year off to a great start! This semester, I'll continue with the traditional second-semester follow ups. Here is my official Spring '11 schedule:

HIST 1302
FREN 2311
BIOL 1409
ENGL 1302

for a total of 13 credits. I can't wait until I start applying to my prospective universities in a little over one month from now. One more week of 'solitude'.

The New Year is Here: MMXI

Oh how quickly time passes. I can't believe that the year for which this blog is named is actually here—2O11. As I've mentioned earlier, I created this blog back in November 2009, during my very first semester of college. The intent was to locate a four-year university where I would transfer to and track my journey. . . and I have done just that.

Over the course of this blog, I have gone through my fair share of both adding and removing schools. In October of last year, I actually had the opportunity to visit three of the schools I'll be applying to next month: American University, George Washington University and Georgetown University. This trip to D.C. alone confirmed everything I had hoped for: a great city, beautiful campuses, mass transit and of course, water (the Potomac). It's hard to believe that within 8 months or so, I will be a student at one of these schools!

With 2011 here, and the spring semester just one week and a half away, I have to bring my A-game to my final semester here in Dallas. After three consecutive 4.O semesters, being listed on the President's Honor Roll and receiving an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa, I am more driven and focused than I've ever been. This is it!

Spring Has Sprung and Is DONE!

Spring semester of 2010 kicked off on January 19th of this year and officially ended on May 13th. After approximately 16 weeks of a grueling schedule (getting up at 5:00AM and attending school Monday-Friday), a new campus location, and an aggregate daily commute of over 3 hours, I completed Spring '10 with another 4.0 GPA.

What A Difference A (New) Year Makes!

It's been quite some time since my last entry. It was officially the start of 2010 and Spring semester had not even commenced. As of today, however, the spring semester of this year is roughly three weeks until its end. I have been a matriculate of Richland College since the start of the new year and I could not have made a better move! Richland is another college within the Dallas Community College District. Initially, the basis for my relocating to this school was its sheer location. However, this school has much more to offer than just ease of access. Richland College is a great transition or 'segue' school, especially in preparing for transferring to a university.

MMX is Here.

2010 is officially amongst us (well, me to be correct). Not only does this mean simply a brand new year, but I am one year closer to 2011 and Spring '10 semester starts in roughly two weeks. I have made some changes to my proposed schedule for spring and have also switched schools within the Dallas County Community College District. Initially, I started out at El Centro college, in downtown Dallas. Over the winter break, I registered and enrolled at Richland College. This particular school is noted for its science curriculum, student organizations and breadth of foreign languages. The overall campus itself also feels more like a 'true college campus' compared to the urban setting of El Centro. The next two weeks will entail reviewing notes and systems from my prior math class, mapping out my daily 'schedule', becoming more familiarized with Richland's campus and establishing beneficial routines to aid it optimizing study/homework time. Let the spring session begin!
